Still a while yet

Posted by on Nov 15, 2019 in News

Its been a very warm week here in Valemount. Warm winds seems to have taken care of most of the lower valley snow and that certainly does not help our alpine access. Weather wise, a frontal system will continue tracking across the interior today and over the weekend. Snow is expected for most interior ranges with the highest amounts near the Cariboo-Columbias which is a good thing for us, but forecasted freezing levels are still quite high unfortunately. While snow levels should continue to build in the alpine, access will remain the...

Alpine Cleanup and Work B

Posted by on Jul 29, 2019 in News

On Saturday September 7th, VARDA will be hosting a sled area Work B and Cleanup. It will be a day long event and we are working on an evening get together. We would like to organize two work groups. One for the Clemina area and one for Allan Creek. The Clemina work group will focus on the collecting and processing firewood to fill the basement of the shelter. Members of this group will need Atv’s or 4×4 work vehicles for access and utility trailers and a wood splitter would be a very big help. The Allan Creek group will travel to the...

End of Winter Season Update

Posted by on Apr 17, 2019 in News

In winter 2018/19 we saw a decrease of over 2300 user days to our managed areas. Operations began on Schedule with the first grooming and collections beginning on Dec 1. Our last day of official grooming operations was April 7, 2019.  We hoped to get farther into April with grooming operations although with the early season logging at Clemina and very warm spring, we began to lose snow on the access trails and had to end operations early.  Logging operations being held in Clemina Creek during the months of November and December...

Promising Forecast

Posted by on Jan 8, 2018 in News

New snow is starting to fall out in the riding areas and the conditions are improving. Chappell has been hit the hardest so far with a reported 20cms of new snowfall and the highway camera out that way is looking great. Snow was reported to be falling in both Clemina and Allen riding areas on Sunday afternoon as riders were leaving. The upcoming forecast is the best one we have seen so far this season for potential snowfall. Fingers crossed the weather people are correct and we are in for a reload!

Come back winter and Clemina Creek FYI

Posted by on Dec 11, 2017 in News

Well…..after a great weekend of sun filled riding, we would have to agree that it is getting very difficult to find a fresh track in the popular areas without getting vertical. Forecast is showing a few clouds coming in later in the week and whatever amount of precipitation they bring, we need it. In these times we can see people venture slightly into the wildlife closures looking for a fresh track. This CANNOT HAPPEN. Please help us out with a bit of will power for yourself and by providing some peer pressure to others who may not fully...
